Job adverts for graduates written by small businesses so often draw a blank. But why?
What is the missing ingredient that attracts a graduate to your company?
Students are keen to join a small business, if the role advertised was attractive. There isn’t a lack of decent students.
Your advert needs to appeal to the qualities they seek from a small business and their career.
Maybe your staff don’t come out and say “It’s not my job”. But after settling into their role, some will be reluctant to ever move too far out of their comfort zone.
Perhaps they’re naturally insecure and defensive. Maybe the scope of their job has expanded beyond what they feel capable of dealing with. Whatever the reason, skills gaps will develop.
